After I'd sent the link around to a bunch of people, I learned (from the frustrated) that it had been zoinked by the Use Violation Intellectual Property Police, mp3 Branch, CSI Lab, Poltroon Nostalgia Dept. I.a, Sons of Italy Picnic Specialists...Deputy Garbanzo, to be specific.
However, and I hope the good dept. is not looking, it's now here.
Wow, that's a great performance. And it was funny at the end when James Brown was walking out through the tunnel and someone asked him how he felt. Talk about a set-up line.
The intellectual property question is interesting. I'm of at least two minds about it. In general, and in the case of artistic property particularly, I believe people should have control of, and be paid for their work.
Yet I recorded both the song and the video for my own personal library. In my case, this ability to pirate other people's work is an overall benefit to artists. I had pretty much quit buying cd's before Napster and ITunes. Now I buy stuff all the time and just checked to see if there was any Brown/Pavoratti for sale. And if Brown and Pavoratti ever put out any more music, odds are good I'll buy it (as long as it doesn't get out on YouTube first).
