Dreaming of Groundhogs

Kia, I love this picture . . . am checking email in Ecuador (study abroad trip), and saw a great dog at the beach in Atacames, several times actually--he was part of a beach-chair & boogie-board rental operation out of a papaya pushcart. All he did was come hang out next to you--did not look at you, beg, or otherwise intrude. Once it was to sit next to one of our beach chairs. Another time it was to stand next to a group of us standing aimlessly at the edge of the beach. Saw him trot by our restaurant at night, and later that night, saw him again, sitting quietly in the dark at the edge of the busy strip of bars & shops, looking out from under a table. Dogs.

What a lovely description! Yeah, for me the thing dogs are good at is togetherness. Like it's a whole complete thing to be company, to be in communion. And yer basic Third World Economy Model Street Dog is a marvel of tact that way.
